About Yellowtail Dog Training

Yellowtail was created with a simple belief:

Training should build confidence, not control.

We are a community-led dog training practice based in East London, working with puppies, adolescents and their people to create calm, confident, well-adjusted dogs — without fear, force or outdated methods.

At Yellowtail, we believe in training the dog in front of you.
Not the breed stereotype.
Not the Instagram version.
Not someone else’s dog.

Every dog is an individual. Every family is different. Our work starts there.

Our Approach

We use science-based, positive reinforcement training only.

That means:

• No harsh corrections
• No intimidation
• No dominance myths
• No quick fixes

Instead, we focus on understanding behaviour, reading body language and building skills that last for life.

Training isn’t about obedience.
It’s about communication.

When dogs feel safe and understood, they learn better.
When owners feel supported, they lead better.

That’s where change happens.

More Than Just Classes

Yellowtail isn’t just about puppy sessions in a hall.

We are building something bigger across London.

• Foundation classes that set dogs up for life
• Enrichment experiences that meet dogs’ real needs
• Community programmes that bring dog owners together
• Partnerships with local spaces to make neighbourhoods more dog-friendly

We believe dog training should strengthen communities, not just individual households.

Because confident dogs create calmer public spaces.

Why “Yellowtail”?

The name represents movement, balance and intention.

A tail tells you how a dog feels. It’s communication in motion.
Yellow represents clarity, optimism and energy.

Together, Yellowtail stands for calm leadership, ethical training and confident connection.

Yellow also carries an important meaning in the wider dog community.

You may sometimes see dogs wearing yellow ribbons, leads or bandanas. This links to an international awareness initiative called the The Yellow Dog Project — a voluntary movement that helps signal when a dog needs extra space.

A dog wearing yellow may be:

• Nervous or anxious
• In training
• Recovering from injury or surgery
• Elderly
• Reactive but improving
• Simply needing distance that day

Yellow does not mean “dangerous.”
It means “please give me space.”

At Yellowtail, we fully support respectful communication between dog owners in public spaces.

Part of building a stronger dog community across London means normalising the idea that not all dogs want interaction — and that’s okay.

Space is not rejection.
It’s respect.

What You Can Expect

When you train with Yellowtail, you can expect:

• Clear, practical guidance
• Honest support (no judgement)
• A welcoming environment
• Structured sessions with real-world results
• Training you can actually use outside the classroom

We don’t promise perfection.

We build foundations.

Our Mission

To raise confident dogs and informed owners.

To create training spaces that feel safe and supportive.

To challenge outdated training methods.

To build a strong, ethical dog community across London.

And to always train the dog in front of us.
