Training Pathways
Find the right starting point for your dog
What All Pathways Have in Common Consistency, kindness, and clarity
No matter the age or stage, you can expect:
- Force-free, evidence-based training
- Clear explanations (no jargon)
- Practical exercises you can actually do
- Support without judgement
A focus on long-term wellbeing, not quick fixes
Clear support at each stage of your dog’s life
Every dog — and every stage — needs something slightly different. Our training pathways are designed to meet dogs where they are, without pushing them into a one-size-fits-all approach.
Not Sure Which Pathway Fits?
That’s completely normal
If you’re unsure where your dog fits — or your dog doesn’t neatly fit into a box — just get in touch.
We’ll help you work out:
- Whether classes or 1-to-1 training make sense
- What support will be most useful right now
- Whether training, enrichment, or referral is the best next step

Puppies (8 weeks – 12 months)
Laying calm, confident foundations
The first year is about more than “sit” and “stay”. We focus on helping puppies feel safe, curious, and settled in the world around them.
What we work on:
-
Focus and engagement with you
-
Calm handling and body awareness
-
Loose lead foundations
-
Recall beginnings
-
Settling and switching off
-
Confidence around people, dogs, and everyday environments
We support puppies through socialisation done properly — thoughtful exposure, not overwhelm.
How we do it:
-
Small, structured group classes
-
Optional one-to-one support
-
Clear guidance you can use at home
Our aim is to prevent problems later by building understanding early.

Young Dogs (1 – 3 years)
Support through adolescence and real-life challenges
This is often the hardest stage — when training seems to fall apart and energy levels rise.
We help young dogs and their owners navigate adolescence with practical skills and realistic expectations.
What we work on:
-
Loose lead walking in busy places
-
Recall around distractions
-
Impulse control and frustration
-
Over-excitement or “big feelings”
-
Calm behaviour at home and outside
-
Focus and connection when things get harder
How we do it:
-
Small group classes for real-world skills
-
One-to-one sessions where needed
-
Clear plans you can stick to between sessions
This stage is about refinement, not failure. Most dogs don’t need “starting again” — they need support through change.
-

Adult Dogs (3+ years)
Bespoke support, at your dog’s pace
Adult dogs come with history — good and bad. For this reason, we offer one-to-one training only for dogs over 3.
What we support:
-
Loose lead walking refreshers
-
Recall rebuilding
-
Over-arousal or frustration
-
Nervousness or confidence dips
-
Changes after life events (moves, routine changes, new family members)
-
Improving calm and focus day to day
How we do it:
-
Individual assessment
-
Practical, achievable training plans
-
Calm, supportive sessions
Where needs go beyond training alone, we’ll guide you toward a trusted behaviourist — and work alongside them where appropriate.
